Fandom Imitates Life
I am trying to accomplish two things with my new lease on world travel. The first is visit as many archeological monuments around the world as possible; the older the better. The second is to take at least one picture from every destination dressed as one of my favorite video game characters, Nathan Drake. There’s relevance here.
For the uninformed, Nathan Drake is from the game series ‘Uncharted‘ by Naughty Dog. He is very much modeled after Indiana Jones, replacing the fedora and bullwhip for a mighty belt buckle and semi-automatic weapons. Each of the games he has starred in has taken him to remote locations across the globe; some well known and others not as much (or at all). Regardless of the destination, it is beautifully captured every time as you interact with the game. Nathan generally seeks out treasure for his own pockets, but generally winds up helping others in distress because of his direct or indirect actions.
My list isn’t too extensive right now, but will expand. During my honeymoon I had the pleasure of marking one place off my list: Chichen Itza. It was opressively humid and hot that day, but it was worth every minute. Walking around the grounds, taking in every detail from the tour guide, taking pictures, and getting donned up in my costume for a shot as proof. It was half-complete at the time but you can still tell based on what I have on. Future photos will have the rest of the details included.
I enjoy travelling a lot, and this only increases my incentive to do so.
